Willy Breitling felt that such a change of pace and intended to design an fashionable chronograph that would capture the mainstream of the era. He called it the Top Time. The Breitling Top Time Classic Cars series was originally launched in 2021, which pays homage to iconic American sports cars from the 1950s and 1960s. Maintaining the iconic characteristic of the Top Time chronograph watches in the past, the modern Breitling Top Time collection continues to maintain this spirit to break tradition and bring more bright colors and contain the automotive-inspired design elements.
The three Top Time Classic car models come back : the Ford Mustang edition with a dark green dial, the Chevrolet Corvette version with a bright red dial, and the Shelby Cobra-inspired model, which features a blue dial.
Their sub-dials are “squircle” ( (not quite square, not quite round) shapes. All three chronograph dials of two watches registers on their dials, different from other two watches, while the Shelby Cobra edition features a two-register layout. The significant logos of the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Corvette are put on the upper half of the dial, and Shelby Cobra logo, the cobra modifier is at 6 o’clock due to the rounded shape and the requirement of more space instead of the third chronograph register. Eventually it creates a balance between the aesthetic display and clean design.
The Top Time B01 Shelby Cobra comes with a 43*13mm case, made of 316L stainless steel. Additionally,the colors and emblem are based on its classic-car counterpart. It is matched with a perforated brown leather racing strap, the sub-dial stands for speed-measuring tachymeter scale, like racing in a highway with fast and furious.
